British purveyors of stylish and simple clothing and homeware, TOAST, have teamed up with Unique Homestays to give their iconic Cornish hideaway, The Stack, a fresh look for spring.

Here, we speak with Head of House and Home, Judith Harris, to learn of the brand's journey from farmhouse to fame, with some of TOAST's top styling tips on the way.
Can you tell us about the origins of TOAST?
TOAST began in 1997 with loungewear and nightwear designed in a farmhouse in Wales. The idea was to create a brand that reflected a slower, more thoughtful way of life. It later expanded into womenswear, then homeware – with a wonderful mix of bedding, throws and accessories – and menswear.
What is the company ethos?
Today, we continue to aspire to a different pace to the bustle of everyday life, whether that is through creating garments that are timeless or by supporting artisans and makers.
What tips would you give readers to create a timeless aesthetic in their home?
A timeless interior balances functionality, comfort and craftsmanship. TOAST collections have a relaxed ease to them. Nothing is overly precious or complicated but everything is made to last. However, it is our use of colour and texture that stands us apart. We choose rich and interesting, off-beat combinations of colours that are often grounded with earth tones and indigos. The result is a unique collection of pieces, including lightweight wool blankets, hand stitched quilts and rumpled heavy linens that create a timeless aesthetic. Layer new items with your own well-loved pieces.
Can you share some key styling tips for 2023 and products to look out for, including any favourite new products to the collection?
This season we looked to the freedom of life close to open water. The Stack is the perfect space to explore this, with its position equidistant to two Cornish coasts. In this collection we explore the idea of using what is close to hand; such as remnants of pattern, beachcombed finds. Textiles are inspired by patched sails and sun-bleached colours, while ceramics have an organic feel. New pieces include hand-woven sea grass baskets, hand-carved driftwood spoons and pared-back ceramic pieces from Welsh Potter Bert Jones.
We have seen a rise in popularity for buying unique, authentic and handmade objects. An increased awareness of our environment and a reaction against mass market has meant that we are choosing to buy pieces that celebrate imperfections and show an appreciation for materials, craft and creativity.
What are the key elements to making a bedroom a calm, curated and individualistic space – how to ensure romance and tranquillity in a busy modern world?
In this hectic and hurried world, the bedroom is a place to relax and retreat. To create a calm and peaceful space, dress your bed with crisp cotton sheets and cocooning blankets - from traditionally woven ticking stripe bedlinen to lambswool blankets. Layering earthy shades will bring warmth to a room.
